Aromas Water's NewsSplash! 2025 Q2

Aromas Water's NewsSplash! 2025 Q2:

Our Aromas Water District (District) team continues to work hard to keep our community’s water safe, reliable, and well-managed. This quarter, staff have been busy preparing for the District’s upcoming financial audit, a key step in maintaining transparency and accuracy for our customers, with the final audit scheduled to be presented to the Board of Directors in December. In addition, our team is actively updating and enhancing the District’s Geographic Information System (GIS), an important tool that helps us manage our water system more efficiently. Most importantly, we are pleased to announce that the annual Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) has been completed and is available for viewing and download on the District’s website, keeping you informed about the quality of your water.

Moving forward with training and infrastructure projects

The District is focusing on improvement this year through a series of trainings for staff and Board members. Ongoing training ensures our Board members and staff stay up to date on best practices. Required training sessions, as well as trainings that improve the District overall, are scheduled throughout the remainder of 2025.

District staff have also been actively working on several projects to enhance water reliability, quality, and service for the community. Here are updates to some of the most significant projects:

School Tanks Abandonment and Replacement

  • Project Overview: The School Tanks project is being completed in multiple phases, including installation, protection, destruction, and communication. The first two phases, installation and protection, are complete, with the remaining phases scheduled for consideration at future Board meetings.
  • Impact: This project is designed to improve system reliability and ensure safe, efficient water delivery to the School Pressure Zone.

Marshall Well Replacement Project

  • Project Overview: The District is moving forward with the design and construction of a new production well and pump station at the Driscoll site. The project also includes a treatment system to remove manganese and iron, sodium hypochlorite disinfection, a 650-foot pipeline to connect to the distribution system, and an optional solar array to reduce energy costs.
  • Impact: This new well will provide additional supply redundancy, improve system reliability, and help meet current and future water demands for the Aromas community.

Cross-Connection Contamination Prevention Program

  • Project Overview: In response to State requirements, staff are developing a comprehensive Cross-Connection Contamination Prevention Program and Plan, which will be presented to the Board soon.
  • Impact: This program will help protect the community’s water supply from potential contamination and ensure compliance with State regulations.
